Health

Here at The WOW Flower Project, our health initiative actively promotes better nutrition and well-being through agriculture while tackling critical health disparities in the Antelope Valley, including obesity, Black maternal health challenges, suicide, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Furthermore, we tackle these pressing issues by exploring holistic methods and providing the community with valuable information about local resources.

Workshops

Our workshops, interactive sessions, and hands-on farming experiences make health education engaging and practical. We empower individuals and families with tools, resources, and support to build healthier futures through the power of agriculture.

Empowering Mothers

Our Black Maternal Health Expo Program was created to support healthier outcomes for Black mothers and babies in AV. We provide access to information, resources, and community support, the program helps families navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

Through monthly meetings and cultural dinners, participants build community while gaining valuable knowledge throughout their pregnancy journey. In addition, expectant mothers learn about traditional fabrics and baby-wrapping practices that celebrate cultural heritage and strengthen parent-child bonding. Furthermore, participants receive a complimentary maternity photoshoot to commemorate this special season of life.

Families connect with Black professionals, including doulas, physicians, and advocates, for trusted support and information.

The program creates opportunities for mothers to learn and connect, make informed decisions, advocate for their health, and access essential resources, to thrive. Ultimately, by combining education, cultural connection, and professional support, the Black Maternal Health Expo Program empowers families. It also promotes healthier outcomes for Black mothers and babies.
