Health
The WOW Flower Project is dedicated to championing black maternal health and mental wellness, addressing critical needs with compassion and urgency. Our mission is to provide holistic support and resources to empower black mothers, ensuring they receive the care, education, and emotional support they deserve. By fostering community connections and advocating for systemic change, we aim to improve outcomes and celebrate the strength and resilience of black families, nurturing their well-being every step of the way.
In the Antelope Valley, we face a critical challenge with the highest rates of maternal mortality among pregnant mothers. To address this issue, our nonprofit is dedicated to empowering and supporting expectant mothers through various initiatives. Our Maternity Pageant offers a platform for education on pregnancy care, self-advocacy, and the importance of accessing available resources. Through engaging activities such as a photoshoot and workshops, we build a supportive sisterhood that uplifts and educates our community.
Additionally, we recognize and celebrate the contributions of local heroes who make a difference in maternal health. This year, we are honored to present an award to an outstanding Black practitioner who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to improving care for pregnant women in our area. By showcasing resources and building connections, we strive to create a safer and more informed environment for all mothers.
Wellness
The WOW Flower Project offers garden therapy, animal therapy, art therapy and a serene environment for meditation. Its aim is to create a space for discussions and therapeutic activities. Camp WOW focuses on providing a nurturing environment for children dealing with mental health issues, autism, and those in foster care.
The project is designed to empower these children by fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth. Through various programs, including horticulture and animal interactions, participants can build emotional resilience and develop coping mechanisms in a supportive setting.
